Your account

ChatGPT handles sign-in. BAJ receives your account identifier, email address from your sign-in and a name if provided. BAJ does not receive your ChatGPT password. OpenAI and its infrastructure providers supply sign-in, hosting, database and photo storage services.

We store the name you choose, buying or selling purpose, private/trader declaration and any optional area and vehicle interests. We use these to run your account, provide support and understand what members need from the marketplace. Profile details are visible to BAJ’s owner for these purposes; they are not published to other users.

Your saved cars, listings and buy-back enquiries are linked to your sign-in identifier. A trader declaration is not a business verification or approval.

Email preferences

Marketing is optional and separate from your account. If you choose “Email me BAJ Motors news and offers”, we record your choice, email address, time and the wording version. You can withdraw that choice in Your account without losing access to BAJ. This pilot does not yet send marketing emails or automated car alerts.

Listings and contact details

Listing descriptions, seller display names, area, car details and photos are public for ordinary listings. A seller’s phone number can be revealed by anyone, including visitors who are not signed in, while the listing is active. Do not add documents, addresses or private information to public listing text or photos.

Full postcodes entered for listing or distance searches are sent to Postcodes.io for lookup. Listings store only the area and approximate coordinates; BAJ does not store the full postcode. Photos uploaded through the listing form are resized and their hidden location data is removed.

Trade-only listings are restricted to their owner and manually approved trade accounts. Buy-back offers are private to the buyer, seller and BAJ review queue; sellers see amounts but not buyer identities.

Storage and your choices

Profile information and email-preference history remain stored while you keep your BAJ profile. You can download your profile or remove it in Your account. Removing your profile deletes its details and consent history and stops marketing eligibility. It does not delete your ChatGPT account, existing listings, saved cars, trade application or buy-back offers. Withdraw active adverts first, and contact BAJ if you want related account records removed or a complete copy of your information.

Listing records and photos remain stored after withdrawal and are hidden from visitors; no automatic deletion period is implemented for those records. Closed or withdrawn buy-back offers and review logs older than 90 days are removed on the next offer submission. Other account records remain until removed following a request. Service providers may retain backup or security records under their own policies.

When someone reveals a seller’s phone number, a one-day first-party visitor cookie can prevent duplicate interest counts. The stored count uses a daily hashed identifier. Sign-in also uses essential authentication cookies. BAJ has no advertising or analytics tracking added.
